On February 17, 1920, he was united in marriage to Miss Emma Austin, also of Hanley Falls, with Rev. Ole Lokensgaard officiating at the wedding.
The couple first made their home near Cooperstown, North Dakota, where Mr. Oftedahl farmed about three years before returning to Hanley Falls, where he purchased the present home farm and where he was active up to his passing.
This union was blessed with four children, namely, a daughter, Eleanor (Mrs. Mell Amundson) of Richfield, Minnesota, two sons, Eugene and Glenn, both of Hanley Falls, and a son who died in infancy.
He had been in excellent health until last fall when he underwent surgery, but it was not until the last three weeks that the failing of his health was really noticed. Tuesday, February 16, 1960, he passed away at the Granite Falls Hospital, Granite Falls, Minnesota, at the age of 63 years.
He leaves to mourn his passing his wife; three children; eight grandchildren; his mother, Ellen Oftedahl of Hanley Falls; brother, Edwin of Hanley Falls; and two sisters, Helma (Mrs. Roy Olson) of Hanley Falls and Suella (Mrs. James Brennan) of LaGrange Park, Illinois; and a host of friends and other relatives.
