| Birth: | 1874 | | Death: | Jan. 16, 1932 |  Musician, Inventor. He is acknowledged as the inventor of the steel guitar. At age 11, he experimented while playing the guitar by sliding diferent objects across the strings. He became intriqued by the sounds he produced and continued to fine tune his technique. Several years later in school, he created the steel bar that is used today while playing steel guitar. He also raised the frets on the guitar and changed the strings to wire.
