Marvin J. Peterson
Marvin J. "Pete" Peterson passed away Saturday, Oct. 23, 2004.
He was born in Berkley, Mich., to Byron and Edna Peterson. Mr.Peterson was a World War II veteran, serving under Gen. George Patton's Company "C" 503rd MP Battalion. He was a member of the Police Battalion in the 3rd U.S. Army, directing traffic at important road junctions in Normandy, northern France, Rhineland, Ardennes and central Europe. He received a Good Conduct Medal and Service Medals for the American, European, African and Middle Eastern theatres. He also was awarded five Bronze Stars.
He leaves behind his beloved wife of 47 years, Jean (nee Stark); daughters, Terri (Brian) Daly of New York and Traci Peterson of Dayton; loving grandchildren, Kathleen Daly and twins, Kevin and Elizabeth Daly; niece, Marilyn Hawkins of Michigan; and nephew, DavidPeterson of Michigan.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Mass of Christian Burial: 10 a.m. Wednesday at Holy Martyrs Catholic Church, 3100 S. Weymouth Road, Medina Township, where Mr.Peterson was a member and served on the social commission for many years.
Burial: All Saints Cemetery, Northfield.
Visiting hours: 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Waite & Son Funeral Homes, Medina Chapel, 765 N. Court St.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Holy Martyrs Building Fund; the ALS Association, Northeast Ohio Chapter, 2500 E. 22nd St., Cleveland, 44115-9907; or the Alzheimer's Association, 1815 W. Market St., Suite 301, Akron, 44313.
