Harry was a son of Elza Watts and Gertrude Simpson. He married first to Dicie L. Bookless (fourth child of Leonard Bookless and his wife, Dicie Fry). The wedding took place on August 15, 1948 in Woodland (Iroquois County), Illinois. They had two daughters. Harry served in World War II (10 Feb 1943 - 26 Nov 1946) and then in the Korean War (10 Feb 1950 - 6 Apr 1958). Harry and Dicie divorced in February of 1945. Harry then married Betty Irene Hanes (daughter of Walter A. Hanes and Birdella A. Green). Harry and Betty had three children; a son and two daughters.
