Richard G. Abbey, 84, of Peoria passed away at OSF St. Clare Home, in Peoria Heights on Thursday August 23, 2012.
He was born on February 22, 1928 in Peoria the son of David and Cecelia Bamber Abbey. He married Betty Crotz on March 26, 1949 in Peoria.
Surviving is his wife of Peoria, one daughter Joni (Bob) Foster of Peoria and one son Phillip (Yuko) Abbey of Ramona, CA. Also surviving are three grandchildren, five great grandchildren as well as two sisters Marilyn (Homer) Brubaker of Peoria and Nanette (Roger) Benecke of LeRoy, IL. Rich was preceded in death by one son Rick, in 1978, two brothers Philip and Frank.
He was a US Marine Veteran serving from 1951 until being honorably discharged in December of 1953. He then worked for Keystone steel and Wire Co. for 32 years retiring in 1980 as supervisor.
Cremation rites will be accorded with no services scheduled.
