Henry Axe's first wife was named Sarah Martha Horn and lived until 1871, there is no evidence that Henry Axe and Sarah Martha divorced, so if Henry Axe did indeed marry Caroline Head before 1871 then he would have committed bigamy. There has not been any evidence found about a marriage between Henry and Caroline.

Information has just come to light that Henry did indeed marry Caroline Head on the 2nd Dec 1860 in Simsbury, Hartford, Connecticut. No divorce has ever been found, so we must assume that this was a bigamous marriage.
