Longtime valley resident Manuel Florentino Trujillo, 84, died August 20, 2012 at the Sangre de Cristo Hospice in Pueblo.

Manuel was born March 14, 1928 in Santa Fe, New Mexico to Jose Guillermo and Domitilia 'Tillie' Esquivel Trujillo. He married his wife of more than 23 years, Mary Cleo Sedillo on December 23, 1988 in Border, Texas.

Manuel served in the United States Air Force for 20 years and traveled all over the world while serving. He was a Korea War veteran and was honorably discharged. After his service in the military, Manuel owned and operated a bar in Texas.

He loved to fish and work on his house and yard. Manuel also enjoyed travelling.

He was a member of the VFW Post 899 and American Legion Post 113 in Alamosa. Manuel served as Commander of the VFW on numerous occasions.

He is survived by his wife Mary Trujillo of Alamosa, his children Manuel (Sherri) Trujillo, Jr. of Pensacola, Fla., Anthony (Ruth) Trujillo of Ft. Garland and Barbara Trujillo of Utah and Shirley Ann (Bert) Mata of Albuquerque, N.M. his step-children Alex Garcia of Las Cruces, NM, Rachel Garcia of Alamosa and Agatha Garcia of Alamosa; his grandchildren Renee, Manuelito, Vanessa, Nicole, Desiree, Yolanda, Jose, Shantel and Crystal, Bert Jr., Bernadette and Joe, his great-grandchildren Nicholas, Alicia, Isabella, Joey, Marissa, Victor, Diego, Manuel and Deanna; his brothers and sisters Jake (Tillie) Trujillo of California, Simon (Betty) Trujillo of Pueblo, Sammy Trujillo of Denver, Rosemary (Levi) Ortiez of Colorado Springs and Manuelita Gurillo of Denver as well as numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.

His parents, one son Joe Trujillo, and brothers and sisters Rosalee Garcia, Junior Trujillo and Belen Zahare all preceded him in death.

A visitation will be held from 5-6 p.m. on Thursday, August 23, 2012 followed by a Vigil with Recitation of the Rosary at 6 p.m. at the Holy Family Catholic Church in Fort Garland. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 2 p.m. Friday, August 24, 2012 also at the Holy Family Catholic Church in Fort Garland. Interment with military honors will be held at the Fort Garland Community Cemetery. Rogers Family Mortuary of Alamosa is in care of the arrangements.
