Robert Philip Ackerly "Bob" March 18, 1922 ~ Oct. 21, 2010 Resident of Danville Bob Ackerly, passed away at the age of 88 on Thursday, October 21st, 2010.

Bob was born in Yonkers, New York. At the age of 18 he answered the call of duty and served in the US Navy during World War II. He moved to sunny California in l949 and married his wife, Barbara, in 1952. They enjoyed 51 years of marriage until Barbara's death in December 2004.

Bob is survived by his two children Julia and Phil; their spouses Gray and Terry; four grandchildren Todd, Stephen, Allison and Scott; and two wonderful "grand-daughters-in-law" Sarah and Jenna. He was so excited to know and share with friends of his first great-grandchild, expected to arrive around his 89th birthday, in 2011.

There are many things that Bob will be remembered for, but his passion and love of antique toys is the one that surpasses the rest. He had an incredible gift for drawing and sketching and could be found working on one of his latest pictures listening to Xavier Cugat's music. Bob so enjoyed this Latin composer/ bandleader and collected all of his music, as well. Bob's taste buds were easily satisfied; he loved every bite of his favorite foods, especially a plate full of spaghetti. He was always asking others, "lets go out for a nice lunch or dinner". Whether it was a good meal, good family gatherings, or fond memories that put a smile on his face, he shared that sweet smile all the way to the end of his life.

Dad, we will miss you deeply! In lieu of flowers, Dad regularly supported the Humane Society and Hospice. He requested no memorial service, and all other arrangements have been taken care of by Neptune Society of Walnut Creek.
