Minnie Carter Berg was born about 1873 in Wapello County, Iowa; probably in Happy Hollow Coal Mining Camp. She was the daughter of Richard Fayette Carter and Elizabeth Jane (Smiddy) Carter. Minnie married Lewis Berg on May 17, 1890 in Oskaloosa. Lewis was born in Denmark. They had three children. Andrew(1891), Fred (1893) and Amy (1895). Minnie died of pneumonia at the age of 22 when Amy was 6 months old. They lived in the Coal Mining Town of Carbonado. Lewis and the children left the area. Minnie is buried in the older section of Forest Cemetery in Oskaloosa. Cemetery Records: Buried Nov 2, 1895. Section 9, Grave E & W 2'2" S & 4'11" E of NW Corner Section Road. This is in the NW corner of the cemetery and no stone was found in the area of the grave.
