Esther Margaret Elfring, 96, died Tuesday, August 21, 2012, at York General Hospital, York, Nebraska. Esther was born August 26, 2012, in Bonesteel, South Daakota to Jacob P. and Susanna (Perlenfein) Rauscher.

Esther received her education in Sutton, Nebraska and graduated from Sutton (NE.) High School in 1933. On September 5, 1936, she married Lawrence H. Elfring in Sutton, Nebraska and to this union 4 children were born. She and Lawrence moved to California for a short time before returning to Sutton, Nebraska. She was employed at the Naval Ammunition Depot in Hastings, Nebraska and at Ted's café in Sutton, Nebraska. She moved to Lincoln, Nebraska in 1961, where she was employed at Gold's Department Store and later at Latches until she retired.

Esther was a lifetime member of Emmanuel Reformed Church and a member of the Eagles, DOES and a women's business sorority. She was an avid Husker fan and enjoyed playing bingo.

Esther is survived by: daughters, Sheila (Delary) Hofmann of Sutton, Nebraska and Sandy (Leo) Overturf of Sutton, Nebraska; son, Jerry (LaVonne) Elfring of York, Nebraska; daughter-in-law, Kathy Elfring of Lincoln, Nebraska; 11 grandchildren, Todd Hofmann, Tom Hofmann, Tammie Steinhauer, Gwenda Mau, Monte Overturf and Mark Overturf all of Sutton, Nebraska, Matt Overturf of Johnson, Kansas, Marcia Elfring, Jennifer Weber, Teresa Kohler and Tammi Lambie all of Lincoln, Nebraska; 22 great-grandchildren; brother, Gilbert Rauscher of Gillette, Wyoming and a host of family and friends.

Esther was preceded in death by: parents; husband Lawrence Elfring; son, Larry Elfring; grandson, Lonnie Overturf and brother and sister-in-law, Gottlieb and Edith Rauscher.

Interment was in the Sutton Cemetery, Sutton, NE.
