Adam BENDER Sr. born 14 September 1865 in Kassel, Glueckstal, Odessa, South Russia was the son of Christian BENDER and Magdalena Johanna HOFF.

Adam married Elizabeth RIEGERT / REICHER in about 1886 probably in Glueckstal, Glueckstal, Odessa, South Russia. The couple was blessed with no less than 6 children; Christ, Mary, Lydia, John H, Adam F and Anna.

Adam at the age of 40 unaccompanied immigrated to America via Bremen, Germany on the 4th of November 1905, aboard the SS "The Bremen" and arrived at Ellis Island, New York on the 14th of November 1905. His final destination was recorded as Lehr, McIntosh County, North Dakota to join his brother, Johann BENDER.
