Wibaux, Montana: Dora Pearl Kunda, age 77, passed away on Tuesday, August 21, 2012 at the Wibaux County Nursing Home in Wibaux. Visitation will be held from 3:00 P.M. to 5:00 P.M. and from 6:00 P.M. until 7:30 P.M. on Sunday, August 26, 2012 at the Silvernale-Silha Funeral Home in Wibaux. A Vigil Service will be at 7:30 P.M. on Sunday, August 26, 2012 at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Wibaux. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Monday, August 27, 2012 at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Wibaux with Father Joseph Ponessa officiating. Rite of Committal will follow in St. Phillips' Cemetery in St. Phillips, Montana. Silvernale-Silha Funeral Home of Wibaux has been entrusted with the arrangements.
Dora was born on December 27, 1934 in Beach, North Dakota, a daughter of Otis and Ina (Higby) Lutts. She was raised on the family farm near Carlyle, Montana while attending Wibaux County schools.
Dora remained in Carlyle working at home and for others in the Carlyle community until she met her future husband, Chester Kunda. Dora and Chester were united in marriage on June 1, 1956 in St. John's Catholic Church in Baker, Montana. In 1958, Dora and Chester moved to Wibaux where they raised their four children, Rita, Richard, Ronald and Ruth.
While residing in Wibaux Dora worked for many years as the head cook for the Wibaux County School District. She was also very active in her community and was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary, St. Peter's Catholic Daughters and St. Peter's Altar Society. Dora was also active in the Wibaux Senior Citizen's Center.
Dora was very creative, especially with her many stitchery projects. She will be remembered for all the beautiful quilts, doilies and other crafts that she blessed her family with.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Chester in 1996; parents, Otis and Ina; two brothers, William and Russell and one sister, Maxine.
Dora is survived by her four children, Rita Kunda, Richard (Janice) Kunda, Ronald (Tammy) Kunda all of Sidney, Montana, and Ruth (Ed) Hansen of Wibaux; three sisters, Della Bunney of Denver, Colorado, Doris Benner of Baker, Montana and Louise (Bob) Hochmuth of Roundup, Montana; nine grandchildren, Missy Kunda, Michael Kunda, Brian Kunda, Jake Kunda, Frank Kunda, John Hansen, Amanda Tempero, Lance Hansen and Ivan Hansen; two great-grandchildren, Hailei Larson and Brightin Kunda and numerous nieces and nephews.
