"HAMPTON, New York - Jean H. Douglas, 81, of Douglas Way, died Thursday, December 17, 2009, at Glens Falls Hospital.

Born on September 28, 1928, in Whitehall, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Eunice (Bartholomew) Harris.

A graduate of Whitehall High School, she was the Salutatorian of the Class of 1945. She married Malcolm B. Douglas on February 21, 1947. They were married fifty-seven years at the time of his death.

She was a member and past Master of Whitehall Grange #922, a member of Washington County Pomona Grange, a past NYS range Junior Deputy, a member of Rural Charity Club, a member of the Eastern Star, a member and former President of the Washington County Republican Women's Club, a past member of the Whitehall Central School Board of Education and a longtime member of the United Methodist Church.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by her brother, Raymond Harris and her three sisters, Lorraine Herzog, Dorothy Bartholomew and Susan Covell.

She is survived by her son, William H. Douglas and his wife, Sally of Hampton; her son, Malcolm Douglas, Jr. and his wife, Joan of Whitehall; her daughter, Janice McPhee and her husband, Michael of Ballston Spa; her seven grandsons, Walter Douglas and his wife, Mary of Hampton, Sean McPhee and wife wife, Jenn of Darien Center, Kevin McPee and his wife, Beth of Ballston Lake, Daniel McPhee and his wife, Emily of Queensbury, Patrick McPhee of Ballston Spa, Stephen Douglas of Watervliet and Matthew Dougls of Whitehall, eight great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be conducted on Monday, December 21, 2009, at 11:00 AM at the Jillson Funeral Home, Inc., 46 Williams Street, Whitehall, NY, with Rev. Roberta Proper, officiating.

Interment will be in the spring at Cedar Grove Cemetery in Fair Haven, Vermont"
