Author. He is considered one of Sweden´s most beloved authors in modern time. His most renowned and celebrated work, is ”Stad”, a suite of five novels, describing the development of Stockholm 1860-1968, from a small poor town to a big, modern capital city. He also had a career writing for, and editing, magazines and he was involved in the Swedish peace-debate. From 1963 to 1977 he was chairman of Svenska Freds- och Skiljedomsföreningen (Swedish Peace Organization). He was appointed Honorarydoctor at University of Stockholm. (bio by: Peter Robsahm)
