SPRINGFIELD - John L. Rutherford, 59, of Springfield died at 10:12 am, Thursday, December 29, 2011 at his home. He was born March 19, 1952 in Springfield, IL to James and Climma Lawson Rutherford. He married Seri Beckum on March 25, 1972 and she survives. Also surviving are three children, Sabrena Fagg, John G. (Teressa) Rutherford and Michael (Crystal) Rutherford all of Springfield; nine grandchildren; one great granddaughter; eight brothers and sisters and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

John was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran. He was active with Toys for Tots; Marine Corps League and was a member of Leathernecks.

Visitation: 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, January 4, 2012 at Staab Funeral Home.

Funeral Service: 1 p.m., Thursday, January 5, 2012 at Staab Funeral Home with Vaughn Beeman officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Park. Memorial Contributions may be made to Toys for Tots or to the American Cancer Society .
