Her obituary in The Owen County Democrat, Spencer, Indiana, Thursday, November 27, 1919.

Esther Ann Culler, daughter of David and Anna Culler, was born in Ohio, September 1, 1854, and removed with her parents to Owen County, Indiana, at an early age. She was united in marriage to Sylvester D. Summerlot in the year 1877. To this union were born nine children, all living except one daughter, who died in infancy. She with her husband united with the Church of Christ at Bethsaida near Coal City in the year 1882.
She leaves to mourn their loss, her husband, six sons, two daughters, twenty-two grandchildren, two sisters and one brother, with a host of other relatives and friends. She will be remembered as a loving wife, a kind and affectionate mother, a conscientious believer in the Word, endeavoring to practice in her daily life the Christian virtues. At the time of her death she was a member of the Christian Church at Antioch, by which congregation she will be sadly missed from her accustorned place. After a long and severe illness she passed quietly to rest at 8:30 on the morning of November 16, 1919. Funeral services were held at the Beech Church on Tuesday, November 18, conducted by her pastor, M. E. Mast, assisted by Rev. McNeely and Rev. Kraible of the U. B. Church. Interment in Beech Cemetery.
