Mrs. Henning was born Sine Menke on March 6, 1867 in Bohlenberge Oldenburg, Germany. She came to America with her parents at the age of 3 years. The family came directly to Crete and homesteaded a farm east of Crete now being farmed by her son, Dick.
At the age of 14 she was confirmed at Kramer Lutheran Church by the late Rev. L. Huber. Mrs. Henning died at age 85.
She was wed to August Henning on February 26, 1891. Her husband preceded her in death on February 13, 1947. The union was blessed with four sons and one daughter. One of the sons died in infancy.
The deceased was in good health until two weeks before her death. She lived with her daughter in north Crete.
Survivors include three sons, Edward of Lincoln, Harry and Dick of Crete; a daughter, Mrs. Clara Jans of Crete; 14 grandchildren, and 19 great grandchildren.
