Ernest Carson, a lifelong resident of Jordan Township, died suddenly at his home on Wednesday evening, July 3rd.

The son of pioneer residents, Mary Ann and Nathan Carson, he was born in Jordan Township on October 30th, 1868. He farmed in this area all his life.

On December 18th, 1895, Mr. Carson and the former Jessie Wright were married. Mrs. Carson passed away in 1955.

Survivors are an older brother, George, of John Day, Oregon; one daughter, Mrs. Andrew Groen of Chatfield; two sons, Robert E. Carson of Polson, Montana and William R Carson of Concord, Massachusetts; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Mr. Carson was a lifelong resident of the Methodist Church, and a member of the Masonic Lodge.

Mr. Carson enjoyed life. He found much pleasure in traveling, and in a special hobby of his, woodcarving. He also enjoyed visiting with his many friends and neighbors-he was preparing for an evening call on a neighbor at the time of his death.

Masonic services were conducted on Friday evening and the Rev. Glenn Quam conducting the funeral services at the Methodist Church on Saturday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock. Burial was in the Chatfield Cemetery.

The pallbearers were Fletcher Gray, Edward Wright, Dwayne Yust, Harold Buchanan, Judd Underleak and Cyrus Odegarden.
