Our loving husband, father, grandfather and friend, Royal "Rosie" Barnhurst, age 74, passed away November 26, 1997, at Cottonwood Hospital, suffering a stroke following a Hernia operation.
Born July 17, 1923 in Hinckley, Utah, son of Edward W. and Chloe Farnes Barnhurst. Married Golda R. Bell March 1, 1947; later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Served in the US Navy during World War II. Active member of the LDS Church, presently serving as an ordinance worker in the Jordan River Temple. Also serving in the Branch Presidency at the Golden Living Retirement Center. He served an LDS Mission with his wife to the Atlanta Georgia Temple from 1988 - 1989.
Survived by his wife, Golda; daughters, Linda Barnhurst, Reta (DelRay) Bevan; son, Jim (Lori) Barnhurst; 15 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; sisters, Roma (Hank) Adolf, of Wyoming; Bonnie (Roy) Ludlow, Virginia Hanni, Ellen (Michael) Murphy, all of Salt Lake City; Ranee Starr, of California; brothers, Gene G. Barnhurst, California; Michael E. Barnhurst, Salt Lake City; many nieces, nephews and other relatives. Preceded in death by his parents, sister, Elva Kent, and brother, Dee Barnhurst.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, 12 noon, at the Taylorsville Gardens Ward, 4252 S. Bennion Road (1905 West). Friends may call Monday 6-9 p.m., at McDougal Funeral Home. 4330 South Redwood Road, and one hour prior to services Tuesday at the church. Interment, Redwood Memorial Estates.
