George was the son of John Byron Kelley/y and Jerusha Bessie Millikin. His siblings included: Eunice Kelly Wetmore of Clearmont, Missouri; Samuel Millikin of Scottsbluff, Nebraska; Rebecca Stockton of Porterville, California; John Robert of Long Beach, California; and Emma.

He married Elizabeth Cowie born in Barrhill Scotland. No children were born to this marriage.

George was retired President of American Salt Corporation.
He died after having a thyroidectomy and getting bronchial pneumonia.
