Newspaper Obit.: We regret to announce the death of George Whetsel of this township, which took place on the 11th. inst. He was about 80 years of age, was a good citizen, accomidating and agreeable, a life long Democrat. He leaves a widow and several children, all grown up-to mourn his loss. The remains were bourne to the Redstone Baptist Church on the following Sunday, where religious services were conducted by Rev. Adah Winnett, assisted by a minister whose name your correspondent did not learn, after the burial took place in the graveyard adjoining the church.

George Whetsel was the son of Rev. Patriot Daniel E Wetzel later spelt Whetsel/Wetsel and Elizabeth Johnston Lefuse of Franklin Township, Smock, Fayette County, Pennsylvania.

He Married Elizabeth Jordan Abt. 1820 the daughter of Edward Jordan Sr. and Jane Guerrant. Both are buried in Old Redstone Baptist Church Cem. in Smock. Old Redstone Baptist Church Cem. is largely made up of Whetsel and other related Family members.

Although George's siblings Samuel Lefuse, Daniel Jr. Whetsel, William Whetsel, Andrew Whetsel, Joseph Whetsel all had the adventure in them for Ohio and Indiana. George and sister Elizabeth Whetsel Freeman stayed in the Franklin Twp., Smock Area of Fayette County..another sibling John Whetsel a Black Smith was absent from the area but returned to the Perry, Fayette County Area later.Aged 58yrs 11m
