Nov. 3–The Minnesota State Patrol has identified two people who died from injuries received in Wednesday crashes, including a 92-year-old woman from International Falls, Minn.
That crash victim, Alice N. Benedix, died from her injuries Thursday at St. Mary's Hospital in Duluth.
She was a passenger in a car that lost control on an icy road near Cook, Minn., and crashed with an oncoming car. The broadside collision occurred at about 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, the state patrol said.
Alice grew up in Bemidji, MN before moving to the Falls. She was united in marriage to Ernest Benedix on March 23, 1938 in Baudette, MN. Alice worked at the Border and Grand Theaters retiring in 1978 after 25 years of service. Alice loved to write letters, reading, and watching the Minnesota Twins play. She was active in the Salvation Army and she always enjoyed family gatherings.
Alice passed away at St. Mary's Hospital in Duluth, MN.
She was preceded in death by her parents John Nielson & Ruth (Reed) Nielson; sister Ramona; and daughter JoAnn.
Alice is survived by her sons John Benedix & Steven (Valerie) Clovis, and daughter Elsi Jeanne (Bob) Nelson; 13 grandchildren; brother Darrell Nielsen and sister Jean (Wesley) Fawcett along with numerous great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
Funeral services were held on November 8, 2006 from the Green-Larsen Memorial Chapel."
