Edgar William Frerichs, 92, of La Grange passed away peacefully on Monday, August 13, 2012 at his home.

Edgar was born in La Grange, Texas on June 29, 1920, the son of the late Henry Gerhard and Anna Helena (Janssen) Frerichs. He attended grade school at Harms School in Rutersville and graduated from La Grange High School in 1938. He was an active 4-H member and earned the 4-H Gold Star Award.

Edgar married Marian Mueller on August 28, 1949 at St. John Lutheran Church in Rutersville. Together they raised a loving and hardworking family. He passed his passion and love of farming to his children and after four generations you can still see the love and dedication to their family farm.

In 1952, Edgar and his wife, Marian, were diversified in their farming until they began a Grade A Jersey dairy farm. When farming, you have to put your faith and trust in God. This was seen daily as he worked with his wife and family side by side tending to the farm and animals. Farm life provided many opportunities for interesting animal behavior and Edgar often shared stories with family and friends. Edgar was also a breeder of registered Jersey and Angus cattle.

Edgar was a lifelong member of St. John Lutheran Church in Rutersville. He was also a member of the Fayette County Farm Bureau and Dairy Farmers of America. He loved to dance and was a member of the Swiss Alp Dance Club. When he had the opportunity, he enjoyed playing a good game of dominoes.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Marian; daughter, Helen Oestreich and husband, Phil; two sons: Robert Frerichs and wife, Vonice; Ralph Frerichs and wife, Faith, all of La Grange; brother, Alfred Frerichs and wife, Ore Nell, of Holman, Texas; six grandchildren: Jon Oestreich and wife, Sara; Beth Lockhart and husband, Jensen; Ryan Frerichs and wife, Kacy; Chandra Jobb and husband, Paul; Neal Frerichs, and Allison Frerichs; grandson-in-law, Patrick Moore; seven great-grandchildren: Annabeth and Amelia Moore; Justin, Allison, and Madeline Oestreich; Rylie and Grant Jobb; two step great- grandchildren: Allison and Breann Jordy; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Edna Citzler; grandson, Bradley Charles Frerichs; granddaughter, Heidi Oestreich Moore.
