CLARK FREEMAN MCQUAIN
BRIDGEPORT - Clark Freeman McQuain, 83, formerly of 317 Willis Avenue, Bridgeport, died Monday, November 19, 2007, at the Davis Memorial Hospital in Elkins, WV, following an extended illness.
He was born December 16, 1923, at Harrisville, WV, a son of Cecil and Mae McQuain.
Freeman, a 1940 graduate of Nicholas County High School, attended Glenville State College, before being employed at Bethlehem Steel Shipbuilding Company in Baltimore, MD.
He was also employed as a former Bridgeport contractor and cabinet maker. He was in the United States Army Air Force from 1943 to 1946, and served in the Asiatic Pacific as a signal corps radar repairman. He received the American Theatre Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal and World War II Victory Medal.
He is survived by his wife, Verita Merle Brown McQuain of Jamaica, NY; four sisters, Mildred Taylor (Corder) of Jacksonville, FL, Louise Coffey of Centerville, Ohio, Pauline Windon of West Milford, WV, and Ruth Holbert (John) of Bridgeport, WV; one brother, Albert McQuain (Glenda) of Bridgeport, WV; one sister-in-law, Ina McQuain of Hacker Valley, WV, and many nieces and nephews.
Mr. McQuain was preceded in death by his parents, his only son, Stephen Louis McQuain; one brother, Vance McQuain, and one sister, Clara Dillinger.
Funeral arrangements are being handled by the Ford Funeral Home, Allen Chapel, 215 E. Main Street, Bridgeport, WV. Cremation will be the mode of disposition. There will be no public viewing or service. A private committal service will be held at a later time in the I.O.O.F. Cemtery in Harrisville, WV.
