Carlton - John Powell Carlton Sr., A retired route supervisor for Pelican Ice Co., died Monday at Mercy Hospital. He was 79. Mr. Carlton was a native and lifelong resident of New Orleans. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 8012, American Legion Post No. 0367, and a former President of Cosmopolitan International Club of New Orleans. He was an Army Veteran Of World War II, when he served in Europe and received the Purple Heart. Survivors include his wife; three sons; three daughters; two Sisters; 16 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. A funeral will be held today at 10 A.M. at Jacob Schoen & Son Funeral Home, 3827 Canal St. A mass will be celebrated at Resurrection Of Our Lord Church, 9701 Hammond St., after the funeral. Visitation will be at the funeral home today from 8 A.M. until the funeral. Burial will be in St. Vincent De Paul Cemetery No. 2.
