George is an eighth descendant of John Alden and Prisilla Mullins and descends from four Mayflower arrivals. George's father enlisted in the Union Army one month after George was born. He was able to spend some time with his father in 1864 when his father was home on leave. Following his mother's death, George worked for the Shaw's, married Amy Elizabeth, and was a railroader until moving to Nebraska in 1910.

The memory of Benjamin Dean Andrews was kept alive in the generations that followed George. I have not found that to be the case with the generations that followed George's brother.
