Adamsville - Jerre R. Alderson was born September 19, 1956 in Anniston, Alabama and passed away surrounded by family and friends May 27, 2011 at Princeton University Hospital in Birmingham, Alabama after a short illness. Memorial services will be announced at a later date.

Jerre is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 17 years, Kay Alderson; his four children, Chris Alderson, Niki Sutherland (Shannon), Collen Needham, Shana Needham (Heron); grandchildren, Alex, Gavin, Audrie and Seth; mother, Frances Farmer; sisters and brother, Venon Goodwin, Pat Clark (Tim), DebHarris, Darlene Hawkins (Rick), Sarah Matikinis, Pam Gardner (Bill), Freddie Farmer (Diane), CW Farmer (Melissa), Margrette Farmer, Myra Baird, Sarah Havran (Mike); several nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles; honorable mention; mother and father-in-law, Bob and Faye Needham and one brother and sister-in-law. Jerre was a native of Calhoun County and moved to Birmingham 20 years ago. He was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather.

He was an avid fisherman and loved spending time cooking out with his family and friends. He could be found with tongs in one hand and fingernails in his mouth. His next love was his 1979 metallic blue, customized caprice. He was always playing around with that car and keeping it in pristine condition. He was a very selfless and giving person in life as well as death.

It was his wish to provide life and hope to others with his passing, that's why he was an organ donor or as well as body donor.

He will truly be missed by us all but will live on it the life he has given to others. Special thanks go out to Princeton University, ICU, ER, SICU, doctors, nurses, Chaplain Rutledge and heartfelt thanks goes to Rebecca with UAB Donor Center for the love, support and care that was shown to the whole family. Joey, Thank you!

Jerre was preceded in death by his father, Russell Alderson; grandparents, the Rev. C.O. and Willie Goodwin; brother, Venon Goodwin; niece, Michelle Heckathorn; step-father, Fred Farmer. Honorable mention and thanks go to the 911 dispatch Adamsville fire and Rescue, Meridian Mississippi sheriff and the police Department.

Also a special thanks to any and all that have called, visited and prayed with us -THANK YOU!!
