Jesse Barnard Nichols, 83, years old, who lived at 25 Rural, died in the Newman Memorial County Hospital Sunday morning at 6:10 o'clock, following a week's sickness.

Funeral services will be held at 2 o'clock Wednesday afternoon at the Sutton Funeral Home. Rev. Harold Ripper, pastor of the Nazarene Church, and Capt. Ray Thomas, of the Salvation Army, will conduct the services. Burial will be in the Olpe Cemetery.

Mr. Nichols, a native of Missouri, was born in 1855. He married Miss Alice Almeda Chamberlain in Missouri in 1875. Mrs. Nichols died May 18, 1925, in Emporia. The family came to Emporia in 1899. Mr. Nichols was a member of the Friends Church.

Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Della Almeda Smith, of the ho9me; three brothers, Lee Nichols. Of El Dorado Springs, Mo. Riley Nichols, of Ottawa, and Ira Nichols, of Oklahoma. One sister, Mrs. Malina Walls, of Oklahoma City, Okla., 15 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren, also survive.
