Mr. James C. "J.C." "Uncle J" Duggins, 83, died Friday, Aug. 15, 2008, at Forsyth Medical Center. He was born Aug. 26, 1924, in Stokes County to James Henry and Mary Elizabeth Duggins. He served with the U.S. Army during World War II and retired from Hanes Dye & Finishing Co. after 35½years of service. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred S. Duggins; and three brothers, Carl Priddy, Derwood and Kenneth Duggins. J.C. is survived by five sisters, Mrs. Bernie (Buleah) King of Winston-Salem; Mrs. Virginia Mikel of Durham; Mrs. Ted (Odessa) Hamm and Mrs. Margie Wall, both of King; and Mrs. Juanita Faust of Winston-Salem; and three sisters-in-law, Mrs. Carl (Dorothy) Priddy, Mrs. Derwood (Tilda) Duggins and Mrs. Kenneth (Martha) Duggins. Also surviving are many loving nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews and great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews who thought there was nothing like Uncle J. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. today, Aug. 18, at Mount Olive Baptist Church, with the Rev. Randy Storz and the Rev. Yates Wilkinson Jr. officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at his home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mount Olive Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, c/o Wiley Burcham, 1180 Chestnut Grove Road, King, NC 27021.
