My grandfather "Gramp", Walter "John" Clark passed away at his home in Warren, Michigan on August 19, 2002 after a battle with brain cancer.
He was a hardworking man who was a night-owl due to his job working midnights at a car part factory. He enjoyed listening to his police scanner and watching a few of his tv shows - Three Stooges, I Love Lucy and M.A.S.H.
He also enjoyed talking over the CB radio to his family during the final year of his life. We all had code names. His was Sugar Bear.
John is survived by his wife, Patricia, children Cherie (Tim), Laura (Lew), Brenda (Gary) and Michael. Grandchildren Jon (Brooke), Kelly, Tricia, Keith, Darren, Melissa and Samantha. Great Grand-daughters (posthumous) Ariana and Kenzie.
Here are two pieces from a poem I wrote shortly after my Gramp passed:
"The day you went away, God welcomed you home."
"We all grew close, Not knowing your time was to end And now we miss you most Wishing we had more time to spend.
Still we wait, For that glorious day So meet me at the gate, When the Lord comes to take me away"
