DIES IN CAR ON RETURNING FROM A RIDE
Mrs. Carl Eberhardt Victim of Sudden Heart Attack Late Sunday Afternoon
Stricken with a sudden heart attack while riding back home in the motor car
from a visit with a nearby relative, Mrs. Carl Eberhardt, 63, pioneer resident
of the town of Newton, died before the arrival of a physician Sunday. The
deceased had not complained of feeling ill and Sunday afternoon joined her
husband and son in a trip in the car. On the return trip as the machine was
run in the garage Mrs. Eberhardt fell backward into the seat and was dead
before she could be removed to the house.
The Eberhardt homestead is located southwest of the city on Highway 42. Funeral
services will be held from the home Thursday afternoon at one o’clock and at two
o’clock from the Wesley Methodist church here with interment at Evergreen
cemetery.
Always Resided in Newton
The deceased, whose maiden name was Adelaide(sic) Bruckschen, was born in Newton
and always made her home there. She was married to Carl Eberhardt in 1884 who
survives her with one daughter, Mrs. Otto Duebner of this city, a son, Edwin on
the homestead, a brother Fred of Pueblo, Calif., two sisters, Mrs. Fred Stark
and Mrs. Carl Rhienheimer, both of Chicago and three grandchildren.
The remains were removed to the homestead this afternoon from the Wattawa, Urbanek
and Schlei funeral home.
