After her mother died Margaret and John raised Catherine Rose Easley. Catherine was her first cousin twice removed and her third cousin once removed. She was also John's grand niece.

Mrs. Margaret McKeever, aged 56, wife of John McKeever, died Sunday morning at the family home near Chicora, following a short illness. The deceased was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church at Sugar Creek and was an earnest and sincere Christian. Besides her husband she is survived by one daughter Catherine at home.
Funeral services will be held at St. Patrick's Church on Wednesday morning and interment will be made in the cemetery adjoining the church." This was printed on page 3 of the Butler Citizen on November 11, 1913.
