Stanley S. Backus Sr., 73, summer resident of Three Mile Bay, died at 10:55 a.m. Monday at Community General Hospital, Syracuse, where he had been a patient since Sept. 3. Mr. Backus had suffered from heart ailments for several years.

A prayer service will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Hart & Bruce Funeral Home, Watertown, followed by a funeral Mass at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Church, Watertown, with the Rev. Richard Huber officiating. Burial will be in
