Amherst-Nell Eileen Robinson (nee Ernest), 86 years of age, and a resident of Amherst, passed away Thursday, July 26, 2012 at Mercy Regional Medical Center in Lorain following a brief illness.
She was born August 24, 1925 in Cameron, West Virginia. She was a 1947 graduate of West Liberty State College and studied Dental Hygiene. Nell had lived in Lorain before moving to Amherst where she had made her home for the last forty-two years.
Nell and her late husband, George, were the owners and operators of Chicken Galore in Lorain for thirty-three years before retiring in 1993. She enjoyed getting to know her customers personally and made good friends with those in the neighborhood.
Nell enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren, visiting with friends and shared her passion for reading and learning with everyone she met.
Nell leaves to cherish her memory, her sons Glenn W. Robinson and his wife Linda of Lorain, David K. Robinson and his wife Becky of Tallmadge, OH, Scott E. Robinson and his wife Joan of Amherst, Shawn A. Robinson of Portland, ME; and daughter Lori L. Zahorec and her husband Joe of Lorain; eleven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband of fifty-eight years George Ira Robinson on September 7, 2010; and by her parents William and Hazel Ernest (nee; Hicks).
A private memorial service will be held Monday, July 30, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at the Hempel Funeral Home; 373 Cleveland Ave., Amherst. The Rev. Mark Pemberton, pastor of St. Peter Church of Christ, Amherst, will officiate. Burial will be in Crownhill Cemetery, Amherst.
The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Amherst Public Library 221 Spring Street, Amherst, OH 44001
