Olav Magnussen Of Norway
Birth: 1099
Death: Dec. 22, 1115

Norwegian Monarch. A descendant of the House of Hardrada, he ruled as co-king of Norway with his half-brothers Sigurd Jorsalfar and Eystein Magnussen from 1103 until his death in December 1115. The son of Norwegian King Magnus III (Barefoot) Olafsson and Sigrid Saxesdatter, he and his half-brothers assumed co-rule of the Norwegian throne when his father died in battle after invading Ireland. Because of his young age, his half-brothers acted as regents for his portion of the kingdom. During his reign, he did nothing that was particularly noteworthy except in 1107 he led a Norwegian crusade in support of the newly established Kingdom of Jerusalem, and returned to Norway in 1111. Four years later he became ill and died in Nidaros, Norway at the age of 17 and his half-brothers took over the rule for his part of the kingdom. (bio by: William Bjornstad)
