Anne McBain Dye

Anne McBain Dye passed away on August 15, 2005 in Pensacola. She was the loving wife of Howard W. Dye, Jr., who preceded her in death in 2001. Born in 1929 in Sewickley, PA, she was the devoted daughter of the late Alexander A. McBain and Isabella Bunch McBain, and sister of the late Robert T. McBain.

Anne attended school in Coraopolis, PA, graduated from Monteflore Hospital School of Nursing in Pittsburgh and earned a B.S. degree in Nursing Education from the University of Pittsburgh. She worked at Monteflore, Presbyterian and Sewickley hospitals in various capacities including staff nurse, Emergency Room head nurse, Assistant Instructor in Nursing Arts and Clinical Instructor. She also served as an Air Evacuation Flight Nurse in the United States Air Force Reserve. She worked as a nursing instructor wherever she and Howard lived as they moved with Howard's duty with the United States Air Force. She obtained her School Nurse Certification from Glassboro State College (now Rowan University) and retired from Sterling High School in Somerdale, N.J. after serving as a high school nurse for ten years. Although retired, Anne continued to love and care for her family and an ever increasing circle of friends. In November 2003, she moved to Azalea Trace retirement community in Pensacola. Her life of unselfish nurture and unconditional encouragement were magnets that endeared her to others.

She is survived by four children: Jean (Robert) Andolsen of Cleveland, OH and Palm Bay, FL; Judy (Ken) Schaeffer of Chalfont, PA; Craig (Linda) Dye stationed at Eglin Air Force Base, Ft. Walton Beach, FL and Laurie Steltz of Hershey, PA; seven grandchildren: Dennis Schaeffer, Wakan Orser, Jonathan Snyder, Cory Dye, Alexandra Dye, Dillon Steltz and Megan Steltz; and three great-grandchildren. Annie is also survived by her sister-in-law, Nancy McBain, several cousins and an aunt in Scotland.

Anne was a member of Faith Presbyterian Church in Medford, NJ, and the Daughters of Scotia.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. on Friday, August 19, 2005 at Copeland Funeral Home, Coraopolis, PA where funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 20, 2005 at 11 a.m. with Rev. Dr. Donald G. Scandrol officiating. Interment will follow at Coraopolis Cemetery.
