Mrs. Addams Dies in Harrisburg Hospital
Native of Canada, Live in Shippensburg Since 1898
Mrs. Louise Wood Addams, wife of W. A. Addams, retired president of the First National bank of Shippensburg, died in the Harrisburg hospital Monday, following a long illness.
Mrs. Addams, was a native of Toronto, Canada, where she was born June 19, 1871. She was a daughter of the late Robert A. Wood and Martha James Wood, of Toronto, where the wedding of Mr. and Mrs. Addams took place June 22, 1898. Coming to Shippensburg after her marriage, her unpretentious and gracious manner won for her many lasting friendships. Perhaps her most outstanding characteristic was her devotion to her family, her friends and her church.
She wa a member of the Presbyterian church and affiliated organizations, one of the charter members of the Civic club and a director of the Needle Work Guild. She taught a class in the Presbyterian Sunday school for some years.
Surviving are her husband, one daughter, Miss Eleanor Addams, at home; two sons, William A. Addams, Jr., North Morris street, and Robert W. Addams, Scotland, and two grandsons.
Funeral services conducted by her pastor, the Rev. William H. Galbreath, were held at the residence, 207 North Prince street, Thursday afternoon at 3 o'clock.
Burial was made in Spring Hill cemetery.
