Lois was born in South Dakota. Her father enlisted in the Navy at the beginning of WWI. He was stationed on a transport ship taking soldiers to France. When she was 2 years old he moved his family to New York City, a little one bedroom apartment near Central Park. He was gone most of the time, so it was just her and her mother.
After the war, Lois and her mother moved to Sioux City to live with her Grandparents, while her father finished out his enlistment in the Navy. She said this was the happiest time of her life.
In 1923 they moved to Long Beach, California. Her mother had health problems and they thought the southern California weather would be good for her. Her father found work with the Long Beach Fire Dept. Sadly her mother passed away just a few years after moving to Long Beach.
After her mothers death she lived with her Uncle Leo and Aunt Blanche she enjoyed living with them.
She graduated Wilson High School in 1933 and from Long Beach Junior College in 1935.
Lois married George Opp on July 4, 1937 and together they had a son and a daughter.
She retired from the County of Orange where she was a clerical supervisor.
