Bob was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was a longtime member of Lynn Haven Baptist Church where he had served as a deacon and taught Sunday school for fifty years.
Mr. Chandler was born and raised in Mecklenburg County, and retired from Chevron Oil as a sales manager.
He was preceded in death by a brother, George Chandler and three sisters, Eva Malone, Kaola Fossett and Hazel Talbott.
Surviving are his wife, Marjorie G. Chandler; son and daughter-in-law, Robert H., Jr. and Debbie Chandler, of Hardy; daughter and son-in-law, Kimberly C. and Jeff Stevens, of Moneta; grandchildren, Elizabeth, Brett, Emilie and Ellery Stevens; brothers, Y.E. Chandler Jr., of Honolulu, Hawaii, Sterling Chandler, of Shreveport, LA; Carl Chandler and Jessie Chandler, of Clarksville, VA; sister, Laura Elliott, of Durham, N.C.; numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
A funeral was held Tuesday, July 24 at Lynn Haven Baptist Church with Dr. Michael Wrye officiating. Interment followed in Mt. View Cemetery.
The family suggests that memorials be made to the Lynn Haven Baptist Church Building Fund, 1501 E. Washington Ave., Vinton, VA 24179.
