Shirley A. Elliott, 65, died Wednesday, Dec. 13, 2000. She was a native of Danville and had been a Peninsula resident since 1954.
Mrs. Elliott retired in 1986 from the Newport News School System as a teacher's aide after 19 years of service.
She was a member of First Baptist Church where she served on the communion committee. She was also a member of Newport News Shipbuilding X-42 Pipe Department Retirement Club.
Mrs. Elliott is survived by her husband, John B. Elliott; two sons, James W. Elliott and his wife, Anita, of Madison, Miss., and John B. Elliott Jr. of Chesapeake; three sisters and their husbands, Helen and Swen Anderson of Missoula, Mont., Jackie and Russell Suit of Danville, and Betty and Harold Jones of Danville; her brother and his wife, Wesley and Aileen Arnold of Huntersville, N.C.; two grandchildren, Amy Christine Elliott and Jason Brock Elliott; and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral will be held at 3 p.m. today at First Baptist Church, 12716 Warwick Blvd., Newport News. Burial will follow in Peninsula Memorial Park.
Memorial donations may take the form of contributions to the Peninsula Diabetes Association, P. O. Box 863, Newport News, VA 23607.
