October 27, 1923 - July 29, 2012

Anthony Schaap, age 88 of Lansing, IL, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, July 29, 2012. He is survived by five of his children: Glenn (Carol) Schaap, Sharon Harty, Beverly (Gary) Bult, John (Sue) Schaap and Dawn (John) Olson; daughter-in-law, Marilee (late Dennis) Schaap; 16 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
Mr. Schaap was preceded in death by his loving wife: Alyda in 2009, his son: Dennis in 2010; brother: John; and sisters: Minnie and Mary.

Funeral services for Mr. Schaap will be held on Friday, August 3 at 11:00 AM at the Oak Glen United Reformed Church, 2244 Indiana Ave., Lansing with Rev. John Vermeer officiating. Interment will be prior to the service at 10:00 AM at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens in Schererville, IN. Friends are invited to visit with the family on Thursday, August 2 from 3 – 8 PM at the Schroeder-Lauer Funeral Home, 3227 Ridge Rd., Lansing. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mr. Schaap's name to Lansing Christian School, 3660 Randolph Ave., Lansing, IL 60438.

Mr. Schaap was a long-time member of Oak Glen United Reformed Church; he worked for 46 years as a butcher at Brown's Packing; he enjoyed traveling and camping and was always willing to help out everyone with his handiwork.
