Katie I Davis died in Muskogee, Okla. at 12:45 p.m. August 9, 1911. A short religious service was held over the body at the Bloom Undertaking parlors August 11th previous to the departure for the old home. Trenton , MO. where the funeral service was held at the M.E. Church. The body was laid to rest Saturday evening August 12th, in the Maple Grove Cemetery, by the side of two children, who preceded her in death.

Katie Isabel Standish was born at Keosoqua, Iowa, June 16, 1859. She was united in marriage to S.H. Davis November 4, 1876. To this union were born seven children, five of whom survive her. All were in attendence at the funeral.

Mrs. Davis in her home life, both as wife and mother, was idolized by her husband and children. As a neighbor she was loved and respected in the different communities where she lived.

Such women as Mrs. Davis make the world better by their having lived in it. Those closely associated with her have been drawn nearer to Christ by her beautiful character and Christ like spirit.


One who had so learned Christ did not fear death. What comfort for our sorrows, what encouragement in our affliction!
