H. Rudolph (Rod) Zollinger was born in Zurich, Switzerland around 1843. His profession was that of a teacher. After settling in Texas he was one of the early teacher's in the little community of Oak Grove, Lavaca Co., TX and while teaching there he met Hermina Mueller who was also living in the Moulton area. Although living in Lavaca county they elected to be married in Cuero, DeWitt Co., TX on January 13, 1893 by County Judge Ed Koening. Their daughter, Hilda was born near Moulton November 26, 1893. After 1895 he moved to Gonzales, Gonzales Co., TX and began teaching there. In 1897 he became ill and did not recover from this illness and died on August 17, 1897.
