He was born May 7, 1918, in Milo, Idaho to Orrin Ward and Lydia Frances Tracey Lee. he grew up in the Osgood, Milo, and Shelton areas, where he attended school. He served in the U.S. Army, U. S. Navy during World War II as a gunners mate first class in the Mediterranean and Pacific and also in the Korean War.
On November 21, 1941, he married Ardeth Berniece Burtonshaw in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple. They made their home in Idaho Falls were he owned and operated Idaho Falls Meat Co. for many years. He retired after thirteen years as a meat inspector for the State of Idaho.
He was an active member of the LDS Church. He served in the scouts, explorer scouts and the young men's organization. He enjoyed gardening, outdoor activities, lapidary, jewelry making, and was a rock hound. He grandchildren where the light of his life.
Survivors include his wife, Ardeth Lee of Idaho Falls, a son, Steven M (Julie) Lee of Idaho Falls; a daughter, Deanna (Mike) Hargis of Idaho Falls; two brothers, Manuel "Danny" Lee of Bedford, Wyoming, and Richard Lee of Iona; four sisters, Breta Morrow of East Ririe Highway, Ruth Cecil of Osgood, Emma Jane Gesner Of Madison, Conn., and Betty Egan of Bedford, Wyoming; and seven grandchildren. He was proceeded in death by a sister, Viola Moore; a brother, Ward Lee; and three infant brothers.
