Mrs. Frank Bratcher Passes Away After Lingering Illness.
After ten weeks of suffering Mrs. Neata Bratcher passed away at the General Hospital in Enid Friday night. She was apparently on the road to recovery and had hopes of returning to her home in Jet the last of the week but complications arose with which medical science was unable to cope.
The remains were brought home Saturday and the funeral services conducted Sunday afternoon from the Christian church Rev. J. O. Lappin and Rev. McPherson in charge.
Intement was in the family plot in the Jet cemetery.
Neata Eldora McDaniel was born in the pioneer days of 1901 on November 14th, at the country home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. G. W. McDaniel near Jet, the baby of an immediate family of five children. The father and one sister have claimed their reward, and today, after ten weeks of intense suffering, during which time all that loving hands could do, after being ministered unto by the best of medical science, her remains are being consigned to the earth, whence they came, and the spirit is being returned unto God who gave it.
Neata was reared and educated here, graduating from the local high school with the class of 1920. The same year, on June 10th, on his return from the service of Uncle Sam, Neata and Frank V. Bratcher were married at Enid, since which time they have made their home either on a farm near Jet, or engaged in business here. It is doubtful if there is a better known personality, or one that was held in higher esteem or more universally liked and respected as the possessor of many of those womanly qualities that go to make up a lovable character. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and Rebekah Lodge.
Early in life Neata professed faith in God, was converted and baptized under the pastorate of Brother Lappin,, and the pleasant memory lingers that she has never lost that faith, that she endeavored to live so as to meet the requirements laid down in the Guide Book of Faith, and her only recently expressed regret was that she might not be able to live and engage more completely in the service of her Creator and Master, but has repeatedly stated that she was ready to die.
Fate has decreed that she should not be permitted to remain with us longer; she will be sadly missed by not only the immediate relatives but by the entire community.
Surviving relatives are: The husband, Frank V. Bratcher; the mother, Mrs R. E. McDaniel; one sister, Mrs. Rhea Herschberger, Medford; and the following brothers: C. H. Knouse, Arkansas City; George D. McDaniel, of Enid; Orville D. McDaniel of Jet, and Everett McDaniel, of Cherokee.
