Mr. Furman Smith, says the Pomeroy Telegraph, of this township, raised on
one vine this year, 33 pumpkins weighing, altogether, 524 pounds.
Furman Smith married Nancy R. Robinson on 14 Jan 1861 in Meigs County. they had three daughters: Lenora, mary Agnes, and Florence. Nancy Robinson Smith died 13 Sep 1870

He married second to Fannie Thomas on 6 Apr 1874 Meigs Co. They had seven children; 3 boys Furman Jr, Arthur, and Homer; and four girls, Fannie Jr, Nancy E. Dorothea, and Sammy.
Death of Furman Smith
Furman Smith, an old and well-known citizen of Pomeroy Precinct, died early Friday morning, after a long and tedious illness, and was buried Sunday in the Smith Burying ground. He was 60 years, 6 months and 19 days old and had spent the greater part of his life upon the farm where he died. He leaves a wife and several children, most of the latter being grown up.
Rev. Horton of the C P Church preached the funeral at the Canada Church.
