Dr Wakefield was born in Green township to Bradford and Maria (Hoagland). He grew up in Trumbull and Ashtabula counties, OH and moved to Wayzata, Hennepin county, MN when he was 14 along with his parents. In 1861, he went back to OH for school.
When war called, Kee returned to MN and enlisted in 1862 in Co B, 9th MN INF and served for three years.
He began his study of medicine in 1866 and studied in Mpls and OH and graduated in 1869 (now called Western Reserve University). In 1869, he opened practice in Hutchinson, MN and retired there in 1915.
He married Lucy A Day in 1871 at Excelsior, Hennepin county, MN. The couple had two children prior the Lucy's death in 1899
Harry B married Lillian Hammonds and lived near Lake Harriet in Minneapolis, MN
Dr. Wakefield died at the home of his granddaughter, Lucy Day (Wakefield) Crabtree, wife of Allen Crabtree. Harry B and Kee had just moved moved to North Dakota a few months before the doctor's death. He was 97 years old.
