Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Herbst of Route One, Knob Lick passed away at her home on Monday, October 26, 1970 at the age of 83 years, seven months and 15 days. She was born on March 11, 1887 a daughter of the late William Shannon and Lucinda (Cynthia) Shannon nee Resinger. On March 3, 1912 she was married to Ben H. Herbst and to this union six children were born, with a daughter dying in 1919. Mrs. Herbst is survived by her husband, Benjamin H. Herbst, of Route One, Knob Lick; three daughters: Mildred (Mrs. Edgar) Chamberlain of Route One, Knob Lick; Mamie (Mrs. Ondis) Pritchett, Route One, Farmington and Hazel (Mrs. Richard) Geriach of Arlington, Virginia; two sons, Ben T. Herbst of Esparto, California and Raymond Herbst of Sacramento, California; 12 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Several brothers and sisters preceded her in death. She was a member of the Church of Christ. Funeral Services were held at 2pm Wednesday, Oct. 30 at Miller Funeral Home with the Rev. Harold Mobley officiating.
