The sudden death of Gladstone Nagle, 22, West Main St., at the Allentown Hospital, July 23rd, was a great shock to his loved ones and the entire community. More than 300 attended the viewing at the Schaeffer Funeral Home. There were 35 floral tributes; also a casket spray of red rosebuds and a broken heart of gardenias, from his parents and sister. His funeral was held Tuesday afternoon at Schaeffer's, The Rev. J. W. Bittner officiating. Pallbearers were John and Harold Adams, Henry Miller, Gene Zimmerman, Donald Heist and Richard Deibert. Burial in Fairview Cemetery.
He was a son of Gladstone and Esther (Deisher) Nagle, and was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church. A Veteran of World War Two, he served with the rank of Technician 5th Grade, for 19 months, 11 of them at a station hospital in Rome. He was employed as a display artist by the Lehigh Valley Dairy Company, and was taking a correspondence course with the Washington D. C. School of Art. His hobbies were music, chiefly his accordion, and a movie camera. He was an alumnus of KHS. Modest, kindly, and cheery of disposition, he had a host of friends. During the war he was most faithful in keeping his parents informed, and brought home gifts which he chose with care. His letters invariably ended "God bless you all." Besides his parents he is survived by his sister Mary Jane, at home; and his maternal grandparents, Mr. And Mrs. John P. Deisher.
