Charleston Daily Courier - April 12, 1861
Death of T.S. Anderson - Died at his residence in Jackson, Mississippi, on the 22nd of February, 1861, Thomas S. Anderson, in the 42nd year of his age. The disease which terminated his life was consumption, whose fatal mission was accomplished through long days and weary months of sickness and suffering.
The subject of this notice was a native of South Carolina, and possessed in an eminent degree those ennobling traits by which her sons are so generally distinguished-an elevated patriotism, a delicate sense of honor, a scrupulous regard for the claims of justice, a religious devotion to the requirements of duty. He was educated entirely within the limits of his native state, and graduated at Columbia College, one of whose highest distinctions is, that those whom it has sent forth to engage in the battle of life have rarely, if ever, proved to be other than gentleman. --Camden Journal
